Rumour Has It

That you shouldn't date an American... Jokes! But Stevie Wonder is the reason we have Michelle and Barack. I actually want to collective sigh right now and I am not that kinda person! Onto more relevant things now....

The Obama government is coming under the kind of general pressure that this government has not seen yet. The reign of the extraordinary regime is over. Let's explore this shall we?
  • Hillary is up first - Fair enough the girl tried to do a good thing by encouraging the Israelis to speed up aid to Gaza. But what a lot of those who are offended by this are saying is that she just doesn't understand the logistics of the situation. I think this means an apology is due. Uh-oh.
  • The Iranians had a little rant at the UN - 'parently the accusations that the Iranians are purveyors of terrorism are "tired" and "groundless" and basically the Yanks are a lil bit YAWN in the opinion of the Iranians. This was all getting a little predictable. But then they came up with a diamond -

"Instead of raising allegations against others, the United States had better take concrete and meaningful steps in correcting its past wrong policies and practices vis-a-vis other nations, including the Islamic Republic of Iran."

If I could y'all don't understand to what levels I would've got my ass over to those headquarters just to Hi-5 the hell out of Mohammed Kahzaee. Seriously, I went to an all-girls high school and even they couldn't come up with a killer like that! B@*tch it out biatch!

  • This caused me major lollage - fivethirtyeight are the best stats website like ever but they're some pretty damn amusing guys too and it's so true. I can't actually think of a time that Obama did NOT point out that he would most definitely tax the rich. Seriously go check any website based on Obamarama and that policy will be right there. You could even read his freaking tweets tbh!

So yeh the drama has been high, the good times though have been rolling in as well, particularly with Obama's killer address to Congress. Also can we seriously just have a round of applause for the ongoing legacy of George W? If you can have this kinda effect 1 month after the whole president thing was over for you (well really it's been 3 months) then you have skills dude!

Our politicians still have some sense of moral decency

Ivan Cameron passed away at the age of 6.

Condolences to the Cameron family who have lost a son they clearly loved dearly.

Trippy Much?

For some weird reason today's post went in as sunday. So scroll down for your latest cultural learnings......

We all need a little.... Stimulation

Obama has signed his stimulus package in as law. Someone's done something and it isn't a bail-out!!!!
More later.......

Love + some "Bonus Material"

Valentines was a bit of a let down as usual really. It's a bit like "singles awareness day" and "put-your-arguments-aside-for-a-painfully-forced-dinner day" depending on your marital status. And you always regret whichever status happens to be yours because it either highlights the fact you seem to have been devoid of the oppositen sex for years (January does rather drag on) or your bank balance receives a coronary. So maybe the latter explains Lloyds latest action.....

Following Bank leaders saying "sorry" (wahey, we all appreciate that, makes the fact I'm jobless soooo much better etc) Lord Myners who is apparently important when it comes to all things banking has said that offering 100% mortgages was........"foolish". Wow, revelation much? Because the ever increasing number of reposessions wouldn't suggest that now would it. 'Deeds not words' is quite frankly a dead principle it seems. So, I have an idea! It's crazy right? I'm gonna make a lil list of all the good things that have happened lately when it comes to the apocalypse/recession.

1) US inflation has picked up of late! Go yanks!
2) The recession is hitting the rich. Lols at 9021-0uch.
3) Commentators are finally making useful predictions and it's not all negative.
4) You can always lol at the melodrama

Migrating away from the end-of-the-world cos really that's no fun. The US have this unique thing where each president and their team has their own speacial sort of Lingo. Special Relationship, as you know, was my most hated from the Bush regime, but the latest Obama/Biden/Clinton offering is giving some serious competition. The word in question? Dialogue. It seems the U.S. wishes to form a 'dialogue' with every freaking country they've ever had a disagreement with. Why can't they just use relationship/discussion/debate or whatever else has been used regularly and by every other country in the last century?! I think, though, that the influence of my days as a Drama student may be coming through, however dead and gone they are, as I know that a dialogue is any form of conversational technique and so this just seems a bit general a little bit "peace for everyone" and all that. Just saying.

On a final note: I like this find-a-billionaire shiz!

Titian: Because we all just want to win sometimes

So PMQ's gave some fun times this week (: the Titian problem (if you don't know) is that Gordy quoted the age at death of Titian (a painter) in an interview a few days ago. However, Camcam thinks he is WRONG on that fact and decided to taunt Gordy in Parliament about how he couldn't even get a little fact like that right. The amusement factor though doesn't come from how ridiculous this little exchange actually is as an example of British 'politics' but rather because the Tories wanted to win this little argument so badly they did it the only way they could: they cheated!!!!! They changed the wikipedia entry. The irony in the whole thing is Titian's birth date is unknown --> So his age at death is also thus. Did show our politicians have nothing useful to offer us though. Old news y'all.

Don't panic though peeps!! Over in the U.S of A they've had plenty of petty politics going on, namely that pesky little thing called the CABINET still being incomplete. Latest issue? Someone else quit! Namely Judd Gregg (or is it Gregg Judd lols) the appointee for commerce who replaced first choice New Mexico governor Bill Richardson. The issue of the day? A disagreement on Obama's economic plans (particularly that other pesk, the stimulus package). Why I qualify this as petty politics is that it seems a bit strange that Judd didn't pick up on this before, or maybe didn't think that the fact he is a Republican and Obama and his teams are Democrats enough of a reason to investigate Obama's policy a little more deeply. So now Obama is on the hunt for his third appointee for Secretary for Commerce - coming soon to a newspaper advertisement near you since if this pattern continues much longer the Prez will be running out of candidates.

The shadow shadow chancellor KC had a go at the ACTUALY chancellors bank plan that he claims "failed". Tbh every part of this whole 'economy' thing is failing atm so what's new? In fact it's en vogue, and although I'm all for individualism it seems that is the only way to go. Least they're trying. It's like on school reports when they grade you for effort and acheivement and the only high grade you want is acheivement cos wtf does effort mean for the future?! anyways I'd grade the Government A for effort and F for acheivement here. As in the grade where you know your kinda retarded but at least you're having a try.

Return of the Not-President

I'm back!! It's been the most hellish week of my life - i pretty much got conned, screwed, played and however else you want to put it by someone who i kinda trusted completely - but I seem to have grown up since I still care more about this whole politics shizznizz than guys. I also didn't get nominated for President (student). Cue the "boo, hiss", though tbh I do struggle to be serious at the appropriate moments.

So back to regular updates on what is happening in the world, well at least the stuff that i give a damn about. My UK headline of the week-that-i-skipped-so-ungraciously is that amongst all the SERIOUS PROBLEMS we have the SNP found a real reason to get sniffy: Jeremy Clarkson. The guy did what he does best, made a slightly inappropriate, but nonetheless absolutely-freaking-hilarious, comment about everyone's favourite PM. I would rather like to point out that No. 10 deigned not to comment. If you don't know what this means I'll explain: they don't give a flying duck (or an If You Seek A if you're a Britney fan). So what was taking up Gordy's time? Well he was busy doing what Clarkson, and anyone else at the moment, has been doing to try to "help" our situation. He slagged someone else off, namely the bankers, the latest "victims" of the blame game (although Camcam has already done this before. But then again what use is the opposition if not to give the Leadership good policies? Oh but hang on. Obama has also done it. And you wonder why Gordy would follow this line. Landslide anyone?) So everyone there you have it, taking a bonus is wrong when we're in a recession and that the immoral bankers caused this situation anyways! I like this new blame tangent! I can play the 'guess when Camcam will finally notice that it's just another excuse and uses it as his new line of offence' game. I vote 2 weeks.

(I do have to point out that I don't agree with the Banker's taking huuuugggee bonuses at any time, never mind now that we face the APOCALYPSE, i mean recession. But it seems that only Barack (or B.O. as I find it way too immaturely amusing to call him) had the intention of not using this as another way to, well, get a vote. Yes, this is where we launch into the old debate about whether UK or US democracy is better. Or not. CBA right now if I'm honest.

Okay let's go bond with Obama some more since economically the week in the US has been pretty damn shambolic. The controversy of the week, other than that Obama can't pick a cabinet, is that the Americans are finding new ways to isolate themselves, namely 'Buy American'. Since when is that a new policy?! Anyways, through what was essentially group bullying Europe and Canada have managed to influence a change in the 'Buy American' clause. Oh how very PC. Though tbh Obama does seem to be keeping cool when you compare him to our lot, especially when you consider that he wants to do something about our impending doom. Final lols from across the pond: Blair of the Tony form somehow wormed his way into meeting an inaugurated Obama first. No wonder Gordy hasn't had much to say lately: he's crying in the corner. The ghost of two decades past is still haunting him. Now he knows how Boris feels.

Finally I am gonna make an unprecedented move - to the Global stage. The Israeli elections take place today, just weeks after the 22-day Gaza war came to an end (at least for now). This, for the Israeli's, means candidates vying with each other to appear the toughest potential leader, most ready to lead the country in war. It isn't a good sign for peace. It also means that despite the fact the global crisis is hitting Israel too the economy failed to feature in much of the campaigning. A stark contrast to the US a few months ago. More Middle-East: The Iranians are ready to make friends!!! G-Obama! That will be one interesting bromance.....
